A. Akinya-Ojo, in the Treasury Unit of the Accountant-General of the Federation’s office was last Thursday abducted by four conmen in Abuja.

Mrs. Akinya-Ojo boarded a taxi from her home in Gwarinpa District in Abuja to the office.

Unknown to her, the taxi belonged to some conmen.

The woman told officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) that the conmen held her hostage for more than 12 hours.

"It was as if I was hypnotised; I lost my senses. I was taken to a spot designated as a church along Life Camp.

"When we got there, like many other victims, I was taken to a small room to meet one Pastor Opara Steven. I met many victims at the hideout.

"The pastor rubbed my body with an egg. Two items that looked like nails came out of the egg. The pastor thereafter said they were symbols of a spell disturbing me.

"The pastor asked me to go and look for about N100, 000 to cleanse me of the spell. I went to my house with the conmen and gave them what I had. It was about N52, 000.

"After that I was taken back to the so-called church where I was asked to go and look for about N1million.

"I went home and met with my neighbour from whom I raised about N100, 000. I was released around 10 p.m on that day.

"Yet, I was not conscious that I was a victim of a ‘419’ group. They asked me to bring N1million the next day. I was still looking for this amount when my pastor prayed for me and I came back to my senses.

"On the second day, a source said we should get in touch with the ICPC to assist in tracking down the gang," she said.

An official of the ICPC said: "When the gang members were persistently calling the woman, we gave her some marked notes of about N1million. We also trailed her movement to the temple that they called a church.

"As she was about to give the money to them, we swooped on them and arrested four suspects."

He said the suspects are: Pastor Steven, Friday Ossai, Jacob Odion and Mustapha Inwa.

The media consultant to the ICPC, Mr. Folu Olamiti, said the suspects had been detained at a police station pending the outcome of the investigation.

"We will soon arraign the suspects in court. We are also on the trail of the fleeing members of the gang, including a woman called Miss Blessing," Olamiti said.twinstaiyehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13586738919682959943noreply@blogger.com
